The actual UMAGA crowd doesn't want any such control. It's the Elitist drool over having such control.
MAGA has you under control pretty good now. "Whatever Donald says and does is good... whatever Russia and Putin want is good... anyone who wants something else is bad..." etc.
But it seems like The Biden crowd (if it can be called that) wants you to think that Trump has committed more than 100 crimes around the United States and that right now is the appropriate time to bring all the charges forward, and that it's not election interference.
You have a somewhat valid point here. The Democrats wasted a lot of time making up a lot of stuff, trying to see what would stick. A smart man in that situation would have kept his nose clean and not given them anything legit to come after him for.
The problem is that Trump is not really that bright and/or thinks he can outsmart them. So instead he does some really dumb things, some of which are morally and legally questionable.
As for "why now," if you've been paying attention, or go back to the timeline, part of the reason some of these cases are just happening is because the Trump team has been delaying them all as long as possible in hopes that (1) he can get back in office and either pardon himself or at least avoid the cases for 4 more years, and/or (2) so that people like you can/will see them as "election interference."
The Russian Collusion hoax was interference. Catching him in the act of holding a rally on Jan 6 that turned violent (and never speaking out to say that what happened was wrong), catching him making calls asking election officials to "find votes," claiming he has full immunity in order to avoid civil and criminal charges for a wide range of things that cannot all be made up... these are all things that have really happened.
Stupid is as stupid does, and if you do stupid things they will have bad consequences.
