    Hello everybody!

My area is under a winter storm warning for tomorrow (Friday, January 10) until Saturday. They're calling for up to seven inches of snow. I am all set and am ready to just hide out at home. There is a chance I may lose power due to ice accumulation. If the board goes down, I will post on Twitter (@digimaus and @bbsoutpost) via my phone.

It is insane right now as people are stocking up like it's a hurricane...seven inches of snow is nothing but we have a lot of people in our area who are from California and nowhere else and they can't drive even when the weather is good.

Hey, don't knock all of California - get out of the bay area and LA and
you've got lots of snow to deal with. I used to go to the Boreal ski
area parking lot at night and practice skids - a lot of fun, and good
practice to learn steering into them.

That was back when front wheel drive was new - learning that all you
really need to do is worry about the front end of the car, and the rear
end will follow was a new thing.

A while back I really wanted to buy a Mercedes E320 4matic wagon - kept
seeing them online with burned-out power steering pumps. It turns out
that more often than not, kids would take their parents cars up to the
snow to go skiing, do donuts in an empty parking lot, and when you have the power steering at full lock for too long - like a minute or two - the
    pump burns out.

Are they predicting ice for you all? This time around, they are predicting only snow here, so I am cautious but optimistic. ;)

Sounds like what happened here last weekend. Some people still put it off until there were multiple inches of snow on the ground. Guess they didn't believe it was coming.

Thanks for the update. Hope it is non-eventful. I'm looking out my window looking for the snow. We are suppose to get something between 1:00 pm today and 10 am tomorrow.

Thanks for the twitter handles; I'll add you to my list; so I can stay informed.

No ice and from what I can see through my bedroom window, we got a whopping 1/2" to 1" of snow as of 2400 hours Friday.

That's a real stupid idea. I try to keep enough food, water, and meds to
last me a minimum of a week. I don't have a lot of room in this little apartment to keep a lot of supplies.

So far, as of 2400 hours Friday, maybe 1/2" to 1" inch of snow here for me.

    Sure thing.

I have a Twitter posting bash script here that worked at one time but they screw around so much with the Twitter/X APIs I'm not sure if it still works.

I guess it is a real-life ant and grasshopper thing. Some folks just don't think they need to be ready for anything.
