I second that!!

I never would've passed the physical, as I had poor eyesight much
of my life (severe nearsightedness with 20/2000 visual acuity, and
I was born without arches in my feet. Had I not had correcive surgery
nearly 55 years ago, I would've been a wheelchair for much of my life.

My late father was in the US Submarine Service during World War II,
and retired as an E-9 Master Chief Quartermaster from the Navy in 1987,
20 years before his death from pancreatic cancer. Then, not 3 months
later, I lost my wife and Married with Modem Sysop, Janice Harvey. It
is hard to believe it has been nearly 19 years since they both passed
away.

Yes, best wishes to all. It's amazing that so many WW2 veterans are
still with us (over 4000 they say?) 80 years after that war ended..

My uncle, who I am named for, had been searching for a good job
for quite a while and finally found one, and then the war started
and he immediately quit and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force.

He managed to work his way up to Sergeant and, for some reason
even at that rank, he was a tail gunner which was where he lost
his life in his early 20's..

My father then immediately joined the army as well, lying about
his age to get in, but by the time he finished basic training,
the war was over.

I understand about time. I lost my youngest stepsister to a drunk
driver in 2003 and it's been 22 yars already.

Time marches on.

What I like viewing on YouTube are the Military Homecomings...and
what's even better, is when a marriage proposal to their girlfriend
or boyfriend, occurs.

Some days, it still seems like yesterday...and I can still hear her
voice of "what was your first clue??" -- which was her reaction when
I told her the blooper that noted "The Fire Chief determined the
something hot came into contact with something flammable, and that
caused the church kitchen fire". :P

Yes, it would be good to see a sort of happy ending for service people
after a probably miserable few years overseas..

I'm sure many have gone to e-Edition or quit publishing, with the
high cost of postage and printing. Last I saw, first class postage
is 78 cents...I have to wonder how long it'll be before it hits $1.
