I'm not a good source for info on that. The first 2 times I drank
probably before I turned 17, the first time I drank 8 beer but
didn't like the hangover much.. and the second time I had 14 draft
beer, which tasted weaker and were smaller glasses than a bottle
holds.. and again I wasn't too impressed later..
That time I went home at 1 AM and had to work early the next
morning. I was still drunk when I got there and spent the day
transitioning from drunk to hangover without sleeping between..

After that I drank rye or vodka. I learned early on that the
mixer (coke) bothered me more than the alcohol, so I started
    drinking it straight.

I quickly decided I either had to give up drinking or give
up fast cars and motorcycles or I was going to die young...

Was that *after* the motorcycle accident? :D

I remember one time I went to a party and drank about 22 oz of
vodka over a 2 hour period and then drove my motorcycle 16 miles
home. On the way there was a cut off from one highway to another
that was maybe safe to take at 60 mph (speed limit 50) and I
took it at 85 mph. I wasn't totally out of it, knew I was going
too fast, so I took it near the shoulder of the oncoming lane
so I'd have lots of room to 'recover'. I slid all the way across
the two lanes of pavement, getting back under control just inches
before I would have hit the gravel shoulder on my side of the road
    (and a deep ditch)..

And the really scary part was, remembering it the next day, it
was just FUN!.. It didn't scare me at all while I was doing it..

That was actually after my worst motorcycle accident, although
I was sober when that one happened. Someone cut off a car in
front of me and I was following a bit too close and wound up
wedged under their back bumper with most of the palm of my right
hand missing and a shattered kneecap....

Well.. the beer is not to blame, but the qty intake. Yes.. it's

Beer didn't like me, and when I turned to hard stuff I eventually
figured out it was the mixer (sugar content?) that gave me a
hangover. Once I started drinking it straight I didn't have near
the problems the next morning. For some reason I've always had
a very high tolerance for alcohol intake. Considering I could
count the times I got drunk in my life on my fingers, with a few
fingers left over, it just always took a lot to really get drunk.
Plus I've always been 'light' so it wasn't body mass soaking it up.
At my heaviest I weighed about 70 kg (155 lbs). Less these days.

I had an episode like that too: I won a 40oz bottle

Ha.. I remember one night driving home about 28km (16 miles)
and actually driving under the speed limit because I knew I
was way too drunk to be driving, but it was late at night with
almost no traffic in an area with few police.
I was still living in may parents home at the time and ended
up crawling down the hall to my bedroom so I wouldn't wake
them up bouncing off the walls..

It reminds me of an old joke where a cop stops a drunk driver
and asks why he was driving in that condition, and he replies,
    'Well, I couldn't walk!".. B)

and wound up wedged under their back bumper with most of
the palm of my right hand missing and a shattered kneecap....

That's quite a tale. I suppose you have the missing part of
    >your palm as a constant reminder?

Actually, the damage was so extensive that the whole area grew
back without a scar. It was wide and painful, but not super deep.
But it got pretty infected shortly after and I ended up going to
    a doctor 3 or 4 days later who couldn't believe I hadn't gone to
the hospital when it happened. At that point, I had the fun of
having it debrided and he gave me a 50/50 chance of keeping my hand.

I may only drink in social settings now. I would nurse a beer
    >as long as possible. 3 is my max before I begin to get light-

But that light headedness is the whole point of drinking... B)

No, as I said I gave up drinking before I was even old enough
to drink legally and I don't drink socially at all. Every now
and then you get forced to have a toast at a wedding or something
but I think I've only gotten good and drunk once since I was 17.

The only time I ever played games on a BBS was when I first got
into the local BBS options. They had one at the highschool that
had a Poker Game on it. I played that for about a week until I
got the high score and then lost interest.

Mine was a long time ago.. Early 90's. Not too much interactive
stuff back then. Dial up internet at 14.4 or so.. B)

Yeah, this was on dial up as well. Interactive, though, in the
    >sense that you played against other people, even if it was
    >'turn based' -- you did NOT have to be on live with anyone
    >else.

Now that you mention it, I think their poker game had an option
to play against at least one other live person, but I generally
was on the computer quite late at night so I was playing against
    the computer all the time.

I remember playing cheas via email back in the mid 80s when I had a
UUCP (a "bang" address) email address. That actually introduced me to BBSing.

I used to run Car Wars games via email -- then started a web version
with email submissions. Now I do it over Slack. :-)

Looking to play Backgammon via Netmail or BBS.... "That" I would appreciate.

bga - boardgamearena.com - has backgammon and others...
