My dad spent four months at the University of Nevada Las vegas burn unit. He had to have over 60% of the skin on his arms replaced. He had over 30 major surgeries. I don't think it was overinflated. He had major work done to him so he could live.
[2] Insurance companies are rich.
They still like to sue patients (as do hospitals) if subrogation fails.
They most likely worked out something like a 10cents on the
dollar kind of settlement.
Be that as it may, the debt was still forgiven in my parents' case.
