Trying to get it to answer 22222, I had it answering 22, but had to put
mystic on there for the BBS's ssh capabilties since Microsofts implementation of SSH only support UTF-8 and most bbs terms don't.

I've got port 22222 forwarding to the proper ip address.

I've got port 22222 in the windows firewall also allowed.
OpenSSH is allowed for public and private networks, tcp and udp. \programdata\ssh\sshd_config has 22222 as the port.

I can ssh to the local ip address, but when behind a vpn even though I can access all of the rest of my servers, this one times out. What could I be forgetting? I need to be able to ssh to my laptop so I can restart the
system if the BBS goes down in an unpredictable manner.

You may need to configure your VPN to allow that port through since
    it's non-standard.

My VPN has a toggle that allows all LAN traffic through on any port
and I have to turn that toggle on or else I'd not be able to access
my LAN at all on this computer.

I'm using 3 different VPNs and none have that option. Ports 8443 and 8843
work fine with all of them, so I doubt that's the issue, but thank you very much. Oh, those ports are for TV and radio station, not SSH.

Can you SSH TO shsbbs.net port 22222?

    I just tried.

Ok, it's not me then. Probably a firewall issue.

I don't know if Windows firewall would be the issue. I tried disabling it
and that didn't help any. I've got my pfsense box port forwarding 22222 to 22222 on 192.168.0.11, which is the proper IP. TCP and WAN. I have no idea why I can't get this to work. I can ssh locally to that IP and port, so the service is running on the proper port. Any more ideas guys? I really need this for system maintenance...
