The site I found the message on, osnews.com, suggested the best fix is to stop using Edge. We are forced to use it at work but, as all of my home machines are *nix machines, it is not used here. :)

A bunch of LInux computers at work are running Edge because some web applications from the government require it.

THere is no way I am installing that on a personal computer hahahaha

So without user knowledge, M$-Edge, Micro$oft's replacement for Internet Explorer, sends images that you view online via the browser back home to Micro$oft. Also mentioned is a "bug" that leaked your
personal information to Micro$oft's Bing search engine.

Much like how DuckDuckGo provides your browsing information to MS.

At least with Chrome, you know you're being spied on by default. <G>

I don't trust Duckduckgo that much (and, to be honest, I browse the Internet over Tor or other anonimity overlays, so this is not much of a concern), but I understand MS gets to see which queries are done to DDG without being able to correlate them to the user that issues them... at least, they aren't supposed to be able to do direct correlation afaik.

(Again, this asumes you trust DDG to begin with)

I still use Google and Bing though I am behind a VPN that does not keep logs so it's a bit harder to find me.
