HOW TO DEFEAT A SOLAR STORM: Researchers have a wild idea. It might be possible to neutralize solar storms using an "orbital airbag." The proposal, just published in the research journal Space Weather, centers on a fleet of spacecraft dispersing clouds of gas in the path of approaching CMEs.
