I couldnrCOt help feeling sorry for Bottas today. He had dominated all the practice sessions only to be pipped (by a tiny amount) by Hamilton for
pole. He made a great start and jumped Lewis only for the race to be red flagged. Lewis returned the compliment on the restart but another red flag gave Bottas the advantage again. This time he failed to exploit it and Hamilton kept the lead. Bottas set fastest lap, hoping for an extra point
but even this was denied him by his team mate.
All this drama must have been very testing for both drivers (the in-car
shots of Hamilton before he got out of the car after the race showed him looking completely drained) but it is in this sort of situation that Lewis shows why he is a multiple WDC. As Martin Brundle remarked after the race: rCLIt wasnrCOt just about speed, it was about guile and keeping a calm head and
the full list of skills you need in terms of starts, restarts, keeping your tyres intact, managing your race and managing your head. Lewis was faultless.rCY

Naa, I'm sure BAK would claim that BOT was ordered to let RIC jump him,
or some such ...

Not at all. He clearly botched the final restart.
But what were the team orders on the initial start?

Yeah, BOT must have forgotten. He'll get a slap on the wrist for that !

Did he?
What happened at turn 1? Do you think that Bottas just doesn't know how
to drive a racing car; how to defend a position?

There are multiple lines that can be taken on that track to overtake on the outside, or the inside
if defended, due to the track width. That corner and several others, as seen with multiple other
overtakes
