LH definitely deserves a Knighthood now. If Andy Murray can get one for being a so so tennis player, and occasionally a No 1, LH should have got one by now - he has been at No 1 for years.
Aren't these things generally done after a person retires? IMO

That is the convention. But Andy Murray is not yet retired, nor is Keir Starmer.
It has not been adhered to in several recent cases - Mo Farah, Jess Ennis-Hill, Alistair Cook, Chris Hoy, Sarah Storey, Bradley Wiggins,
Laura Davies, Lee Pearson.

Of course, for all we know, he's offered one and turned it down, which
he presumably would if he's as down with the kids as he likes to appear.
It would be great if he was offered one and replied " The offer is
highly appreciated but I'm really not into that shit".

He was happy to accept an MBE after his first WDC.
Also last Sept he received an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Academy
of Engineering (HonFREng).

One of the criteria for receiving a knighthood is that the recipient pays their UK taxes, so it's very unlikely that the honours committee would
allow any nomination for Hamilton to go through.

Hamilton is a UK citizen and IrCOm sure he pays his UK taxes - the fact that his financial advisors will have ensured that his exposure to UK tax is minimal may not be relevant. Do you imagine that the bulk of Sir Richard BransonrCOs wealth is subject to UK tax?
