I really did not expect that to end as well as it did.
Almost straight on into Armco.

Seeing Romain in the medical car was the biggest reason to celebrate
this season... more so after seeing him jump the armco and where he had escaped from.

Wow.
Horror, then relief (seeing him in the medical car) and then horror
at the wreckage.
It looks like he was jumping BACK onto the track. At first blush that suggests he went THROUGH the barrier.
Just amazing at how good these cars and drivers are from the safety perspective.

barriers at a track entry point are at a weird angle these days for
some reason (similar incidents in wtcc and btcc this year) - the
barrier angles need changing back to kimi at silverstone days.
more fire extinguishers for marshals and bigger ones (only one track
marshal seemed to have one and it wasn't doing much good compared to
the other ones that eventually got there by car).
remove the fire extinguisher safety pins on the parade lap (i can't
remember how many times i've witnessed nervous marshals fiddling
about to remove them once a fire starts) - the actually safety pin
purpose makes premature removal hardly a hazard for the duration of
the race.
I really did not expect that to end as well as it did.

They don't train the marshal's or show them how to use an extinguisher. sheesh.

Neither marshal I saw with an extinguisher was effective. One was
quick but did not suppress the fire at all. It really was down to the
medical car.

The full FIA report will be interesting when it finally arrives.
I'm glad they were careful what shots they broadcast until they were sure that Romain was OK, well done on that.
