For the first time, watched the Sky coverage on a NowTV day sports pass, -u9.98, for the Sakhir GP. Good decision for this race!!
Have to say both the Ch4 and BBC Radio 5 teams knock spots off the Sky team. Perhaps watch Sky video and listen to BBC Radio??
And the BBC Chequered Flag podcasts are excellent as well.
Used Roku Streaming+ stick into a 4K projector and 5.1 sound. Brilliant. But NowTV stingy with the basic 720 resolution.

resort to piracy (mainly because tex would tell me off).
Germany's RTL is stopping next year, and I presume that means the other free European satellite broadcasts will cease too (at least the ones I can lock onto with my cheap setup).
My pet hate is having to avoid the news all day on Sunday to avoid hearing a broadcast about the result when I've missed it live for whatever reason, and I can't quite face that for the whole season from now on!
My son agrees, btw; David Croft seems to be poor, though I did like him on the radio previously. The Ch4 team have done a good job, and I mostly like the radio 5
guys; they do the world feed on the app too, don't they?

Think ORF is on Astra at 19.2E, not sure about Servus TV??? I have a dual LNB setup in France to get RTL and BBC R5 on 19.2 and 28.2, so will need that again in UK.

Croft certainly detracts from my enjoyment of F1. He may have been good on the radio (I didn't hear
him on radio) but he needs to wind it back a few notches for TV - where there's pictures so a few
moments silence isn't 'dead air'.

I recently re-watched a pre-Croft race... Suzuka 2007 actually and even though it was a very wet
race it was far more enjoyable as there were moments of quiet where I could just watch and draw my
own conclusions...

Croft seems to think he's talking to a blind audience who doesn't know a thing about F1 and needs
to be told what to think. Not only that but (perhaps because he's so focused on talking all of the
time) he makes lots of mistakes. The most recent was Sakhir lap 78 when Bono told Russell "looks
like a rear left puncture" (the on-screen said "Russell" too) and, because Croft was talking about
Bottas he talked like the message was for Bottas. It took Brundle to say "Was that Bono on the
radio"? for Croft to realise his mistake.

(Brundle is often correcting Croft and he's so very diplomatic about it most of the time.)

When I turn on my TV I can always tell when the last programme I watched was F1. The sound system
volume is lower than I have it set for anything else that I watch.

I did have a link to Radio5 that was excellent (I'd mute the Sky commentary), but that stopped working. Now I just mute the commentary most of the time.
I reckon they could drop Croft and just have sane coverage from Brundle or the bloke from Radio5? Was that bloke Ant Davison?

Yes, I do, in fact I like the entire Sky team.

Croft is fluent and enthusiastic although his radio experience occasionally leads him to forget that we can actually *see* whatrCOs going on.

motormouth at higher volumes when he's excited if he wasn't so often wrong when he gets like that.

(I know it doesn't happen extremely frequently but often enough when he's already being annoying so
that I'd think twice before pissing on him if he were on fire.)

Of course, the revered Murray Walker was famous for his mistakes. I
don't know if you were ever a Walker fan, but if you were, seems a bit hypocritical to criticize Croft.

In my case, my wife can't stand his voice when he gets excited and is
going a mile a minute. Not that she watches the races, but she can
hear from the next room. Doesn't bother me, but I do need to watch the
TV volume at certain times.
