• Merry Christmas

    From Sir Tim@24:150/2 to rec.autos.sport.f1 on Thu Dec 24 07:36:47 2020
ItrCOs going to be a pretty miserable Christmas here in the UK and, I guess,
in most other parts of the world. HererCOs hoping we can all make the best of it (IrCOm spending it with my son, who is in my rCLbubblerCY).

All things considered I think it has been a surprisingly good F1 season.
Thanks to you all for making it more interesting with your comments.

    Merry Christmas.

I envy you your son. Our son is in a high infection zone and despite
our best efforts to encourage him to come home for a visit, says he
doesn't want to be responsible for killing my wife or me. We'll be
doing the Zoom thing Christmas Day and that will have to do. <sigh>

Well.... Also there's a new 'locally acquired' case in SA and another in QLD (as of yesterday).
Where there's one there's likely to be more. Plus you guys have the 'UK' mutation there now.
We haven't had community transmission in NZ for a while now (but it's only a matter of time..).

I'm pleased that my mother (in rural VIC) was able to have Xmas lunch with my sister (an hour away
in Gippsland) and a couple of my sister's kids. They Skyped with the rest of Mum's grand and
great-grandkids (who are in Melbourne). I was pleased to hear it, we lost Dad this year and Mum's
been mostly isolated, living alone ever since. It's good for her to be able to spend some time with
    family.

    Best wishes to all.

    Agreed!

    Happy holidays to all.
I agree, we had a reasonably good F1 season given the challenges.
Here in the states, baseball and basketball seemed to work too (although the new basketball season is not starting out well...) But these are all good distractions.
Let's all stay safe so we can enjoy the 2021 circus together.

    Merry Christmas.

Hope everybody had a good day despite the restrictions.

Glad you weren't on your tod Trev. Many were. I was fortunate to have a
fall back local bubble after cancelling our family Christmas. On the
upside it meant I was here to have bubbly and mince pies in the morning
with an elderly friend who also had to cancel family plans. Me and
another friend did pretty well for a last minute Christmas dinner with
all the trimmings with no little thanks to last minute reductions at
    M&S.

Never have so few people looked at so many oversized Turkeys.

F1 made a bloody good fist of it.

I don't know about the SA case, but the one here in Queensland was a
returnee from Sydney who put himself in isolation. AFAIK the only cases
of the UK strain are overseas returned travelers being held in hotel isolation. All overseas arrivals have to serve 14 days isolation in
government controlled hotels, more if they test positive.
