Saward does join dots that don't necessarily line up sometimes.
Attributed to Masashi Yamamoto, the General Manager of HondaAs Motor
Sports Division:
"In the end the decision was taken to shift our top engineers to the
work on future power units u and unfortunately we were unable to
continue with Formula 1 as a result of that.o So HondaAs top boffins
were working on F1 and have now departed because the knowledge that they gained from F1 is useful to Honda in its new strategy. That is
interesting."
I read that and didn't come to the same conclusion as Saward. I read
that Honda had their top engineers working on F1 and now that they've salvaged the company's honour Honda want them back where the money /
future of the company is. If my reading is right then the title Saward
gave this piece is rather ironic.
Some of his other conclusions bug me at times (he often massages the
facts to fit his narrative IMO) which is why I don't often read his column.
