Uncoordinated or random display of flags is fundamentally unsafe to drivers, and is addressed by rostering competent marshals.--- SBBSecho 3.06-Win32
Failing their local availability, refuse to race where competent volunteers won't travel.

The marshal has been put on post.
The marshal has been given instructions.
The marshal has waved their flag at a time they considered it to be appropriate and necessary.
The only thing a driver has to do is to observe and obey the flag.
If indeed "rogue" marshals ever did exist at a race track, randomly
waving a flag whenever they thought it was a good idea, all the drivers should ever have to do is to follow that instruction.
Marshals need to act autonomously, and immediately. Drivers just need
to obey.

Even if a marshall waved a yellow flag because it was his daughters

it, and should expect that every other driver to do the same.

Matt was (hopefully) exaggerating for effect. The central issue is
whether drivers should second-guess safety warnings. The best way to get people killed is to allow any driver (let alone all of them) think that
they get to choose. Yes, a "rogue" marshall or plain disorganisation
could mean that a driver gets disadvantaged when they shouldn't, but the whole system relies on people following the cues given.
IF drivers are allowed to take the view that in the event of something
being ambiguous (for whatever reason) they are allowed to keep racing
and pretend the warning that is displayed is "in error", someone *will*
get killed. Most likely a marshall.
If there double waved yellow flags shown by the marshall on the day, you *must* slow down and prepare to stop. If you do and it is later shown
to be in error, you have every right to complain about poor marshalling
or decision-making...but you've done the right thing.
If you don't and you are penalised, don't complain. You are in the wrong
no matter what led to the waved yellows. Most importantly, if you don't
and there is an accident because the marshall has information informing
his decision that you don't have in the cockpit, you should carry full responsibility for that crash and its consequences.
Just IMO.

But it doesn't matter.See if the rogue marshal shows up in Saudi, rogue beak.
Varsha is correct about competent marshaling.
Local or fly-in marshal? How experienced with FIA
series races?
Horner is going along to get along.
Marko has no such need; speaks his mind.
Speaking one's mind is not a license to be a jerk.
Horner was right to apologize as he didn't know that
the marshal was in any way "rogue" to begin with.
Facts are sufficient justification.
'Rogue' signifies actions at odds with the preponderance
of facts on the ground, which appears a valid concern. It
is not a personal attack.
One fact is enough. Is there a regulation which stipulates
the waving of a yellow flag in those circumstances?
Well, self-appointed professional shit stirrer, show the
depth of your knowledge, was there?
Did the marshal have prior top-tier FIA race experience?
There you are hiding behind unknown irrelevancies.
It's of no relevance unless he was not doing his job
properly.
Even if a marshall waved a yellow flag because it was his
daughters birthday and she really likes yellow, the driver
still must always obey it, and should expect that every other
driver to do the same.
That's the way collective safety works.
That's a great way to get people killed.
How does waving a yellow flag...
...EVEN IF IT'S FOR NO REASON...
..."get people killed"?
In close traffic, car ahead checking up for no reason, unexpectedly.
LOL
A yellow flag is a reason. Check the sporting code Fuckwit!
Hilarious watching you dig this particular hole.
